Yeah, Lapis isn't going to get an answer out of her at this stage. She's too deep into it, her stupid draconian instincts "egging" her forward with little room for interruption. At that question, the response Lapis gets is a reassuring rumble, a light nibbling at the nape of her neck, and another egg released inside of her unfortunately solid non-light based body.
